5.1.2.2 Thinfinity IdP

Thinfinity IdP is Thinfinity Workspace’s built-in identity provider, designed to handle user authentication and access control without the need for third-party directory services like Active Directory.

When configured, Thinfinity Workspace operates as its own identity provider, allowing administrators to centrally manage users, passwords, and groups directly within the product.

Key Features

  • Local Directory Service: Functions as an internal user store, available under the Directory Services section as Local Thinfinity IdP.

  • Centralized User Management: Supports the creation and administration of individual users and groups from within the Thinfinity interface.

  • Integrated Authentication: User login credentials are authenticated against Thinfinity’s internal directory. The administrator credentials defined during setup serve as the password reference.

  • Simple Setup: Ideal for environments where no external authentication system is available or required.

  • User Visibility: Once configured, user accounts can be viewed and managed through the Members tab in the Addons section.

When to Use Thinfinity IDP

Use Thinfinity IdP when:

  • You require a lightweight, self-contained authentication method.

  • External directory services (e.g., Active Directory, Azure AD) are unavailable or unnecessary.

  • You need to quickly set up and control access for a small or isolated deployment.
