4.3.2 Desktop Sharing: Thinfinity VNC Access Profile

Thinfinity VNC is a proprietary screen-sharing protocol offering faster and more secure remote access than traditional VNC solutions. Optimized for web-based access, it allows users to connect to Windows, macOS, and Linux desktops or specific applications using only an HTML5-enabled browser—no need for plugins, add-ons, or client applications.

Thinfinity VNC Access Profile uses a proprietary protocol to offer enhanced performance and features optimized for Thinfinity® Workspace. This method provides a seamless experience tailored for the Thinfinity ecosystem.

To create a Thinfinity VNC Access Profile and publish your remote desktop (Windows, macOS, or Linux):

1

Start the Access Profile Wizard

In Thinfinity Workspace home page click on New Profile.

2

Select an Access Profile Type

In the first screen of the Access Profile Wizard select Desktop and click Next.

3

Choose the Desktop Connection Type

In the next step of the wizard choose the Thinfinity VNC type for the desktop connection, then click Next.

4

Set Up the Connection

Specify the Remote ID of the remote desktop you want to publish.

5

Set the Access Profile Credentials

Enter a password for the connection then click Next.

6

Set the Permissions for the Access Profile

Use the available options to add the users who will have access to the new Access Profile then click Next. This step is optional, you can set the permissions at a later moment.

7

Set the Access Profile Name

Type a friendly and descriptive name for the new Access Profile then click Next to publish your desktop connection.

8

Configure the Access Profile

The wizard helps define the minimal parameters so that the connection to the final resource can function. Thinfinity Workspace assigns default values for the rest of the parameters of the connection. To customize these parameters, access the Settings menu of the Access Profile. For details, see Thinfinity VNC Access Profile.

9

Commit the Changes

To implement the defined connection parameters, click Commit.

If you are defining only one profile, you can use Commit right after configuring all the desired parameters.

If you are defining several profiles or complex profile configurations, use Commit after you have everything in place.
