4.4.1 Remote App

Windows applications can be published by creating a Remote App Access Profile in Thinfinity® Workspace. This type of Access Profile enables users to run specific applications hosted on a remote server as if they were operating directly on their local machine. Instead of accessing the entire desktop of the remote server, users interact solely with the selected application, which integrates seamlessly with their local desktop environment.

To create a Remote App Access Profile and publish your remote Windows app:

1

Start the Access Profile Wizard

In Thinfinity Workspace home page click New Profile.

2

Select an Access Profile Type

In the first screen of the Access Profile Wizard select Application and click Next.

3

Choose the Application Type

In the next step of the wizard choose the Remote App type for the application connection, then click Next.

4

Set Up the Connection

Select the computer where your Windows Remote Application is located:

Select This PC if the application you want to publish lives on the computer where Thinfinity Workspace is installed.

Select Another PC if the application you want to publish lives on a different computer. In this case, you will also have to specify the IP address of that computer, the Agent, Agent Pool or the Broker ID (according to the current deployment configuration). Click Next.

5

Choose the Application You Want to Publish

In the Program path and file name field, type the full path to the executable file of the application you want to publish (e.g.: C:\Windows\System32\Notepad.exe). Select an icon for your published app (optional) and click Next to proceed.

6

Select the Authentication Credentials

From Credentials select how you want to handle the credentials to access this resource then click Next.

7

Set the Permissions for the Access Profile

Use the available options to add the users who will have access to the new Access Profile then click Next. This step is optional, you can set the permissions at a later moment.

8

Set the Access Profile Name

Type in a friendly and descriptive name for the new Access Profile then click Next to publish your Windows application.

9

Configure the Access Profile

The wizard helps define the minimal parameters so that the connection to the final resource can function. Thinfinity Workspace assigns default values for the rest of the parameters of the connection. To customize these parameters, access the Settings menu of the access profile. For details, see Remote App Access Profile.

10

Commit the Changes

To implement the defined connection parameters, click Commit.

If you are defining only one profile, you can use Commit right after configuring all the desired parameters.

If you are defining several profiles or complex profile configurations, use Commit after you have everything in place.
