GFX and H.264 Support
H.264 Thinfinity® Workspace Technology
Remote display protocols typically use either bitmap-based codecs, like BMP (Bitmap image files), or video-based codecs, such as H.264—an industry standard for video compression. Most remote access technologies rely solely on bitmap codecs, which work well for basic user experiences involving text and static images. However, they fall short for streaming video or GPU-intensive applications, making it difficult for such solutions to meet today’s user expectations of HD-like performance.
Thinfinity® Workspace supports JPG, PNG, and H.264 codecs. While common remote display protocols are used in most cases, H.264 is automatically enabled as needed to deliver high-quality video at low data rates. Thinfinity Workspace is one of the few remote access solutions with native H.264 capability, enabling HD experiences without requiring any client or proprietary software. Users need only an HTML5 web browser to enjoy a local-like, HD experience.
