9.3 Broker Monitoring

The Thinfinity® Workspace Brokers Monitor add-on provides real-time visibility into the status, usage, and performance of brokers within a distributed architecture. It is particularly useful in environments with multiple Primary and Secondary Brokers, spread across different geographic locations or in load-balancing installations.

Accessing the Broker Monitor Dashboard

To access the Broker Monitor dashboard: In the Thinfinity Workspace home page click on the user profile button then select Brokers Monitor.

You'll be presented with a comprehensive list of all available Primary Brokers, along with their current status and activity metrics.

Using Drain Down Mode

Drain Down mode enables the automatic disconnection and disabling of a broker once all active user sessions have ended. This helps secure a clean shutdown or maintenance window without disrupting ongoing user activity.

To drain down a specific Primary Broker: Click Drain Down at the end of the corresponding broker row.

To drain down all brokers at once: Click Drain Down All at the top of the list.

To release a broker from drain mode: Click Release Drain on the row of the broker marked in green.

Maintenance and Service Continuity

This tool is especially valuable when performing maintenance on a broker. When Drain Down mode is enabled:

  • New user connections are blocked from reaching the selected broker.

  • Existing users can continue their sessions normally.

  • Once the last session ends, the broker is automatically taken offline, making it safe to proceed with updates or hardware changes.

This ensures no abrupt service interruptions, providing a controlled and seamless maintenance workflow.
