Enhanced Graphic Encoding Support
Thinfinity® Workspace delivers optimized, adaptive rendering of remote desktops and applications directly in the browser by default. It also supports modern protocols like GFX and H.264 for enhanced graphics performance.
The GFX protocol is a graphics remoting protocol used by RDP to transmit graphical output from the remote session to the client. It serves as the successor to RemoteFX, which Thinfinity Workspace also continues to support.
H.264 is the most widely adopted standard for capturing, compressing, and delivering high-quality video. Thinfinity Workspace supports H.264 to ensure a seamless, professional-grade experience when accessing remote desktops and applications. Enabling H.264 allows for high-quality visuals while optimizing bandwidth and reducing system resource usage. Windows requires the GFX protocol to use H.264, as H.264 is a core component of the Remote Desktop Graphics Pipeline. However, H.264 support via GFX in Windows RDP depends on the capabilities of the target resource (i.e., the remote server or host). Therefore, to enable these graphics features, support must be verified on each individual endpoint.
Caution RemoteFX was deprecated and removed from recent Windows versions (Windows 10 21H1 and later, Windows Server 2022). While it may still function in legacy environments running older Windows versions, support for RemoteFX is effectively discontinued. Continued use of RemoteFX is not recommended and should be approached with caution.
